Acupuncture

During treatment for cancer, some patients choose to receive acupuncture to manage side effects and improve quality of life. Acupuncture is an ancient medical practice which involves the gentle insertion of small needles that stimulate specific therapeutic points on the body to restore harmony and balance.

Acupuncture maybe helpful during and after treatment:

  • chemo side effects (prevent and decrease nausea)
  • boost white blood count
  • reduce vomiting
  • help relieve fatigue
  • manage pain: post surgical pain or joint pain
  • decrease discomfort, tightness and heaviness associated with lymphedema
  • control hot flashes and menopausal symptoms
  • promote relaxation and restore an overall sense of well-being

Naturopathy

Natura

Health and Wellness clinic

Naturopathic medicine is an approach to primary health care focused on natural therapies that emphasize prevention and the body’s self-healing. With a focus on treating the whole person, naturopathic physicians take into account each patient’s unique physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors when considering a treatment plan. Rather than eliminating or merely suppressing symptoms, naturopathic physicians work to identify and remove the underlying causes of illness while also promoting wellness. Drawing from a large and diverse toolkit, naturopathic medicine blends centuries-old natural therapies with current treatments.

DR. MARGARET COFFEY specializes in providing naturopathic care to current or past cancer patients, incorporating a broad spectrum of treatments centered around patient preferences. She also focuses on naturopathic primary care.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
