Please join us for this spectacular Outrigger, Dragon Boat adventure on Flathead Lake.
Honored guests include Dr. Don McKenzie from University of British Columbia who will be giving a very special presentation on breast cancer survivorship and dragon boats.
We are also incredibly excited to have back Hawaiian legend and mentor, Kimokeo Kapahulehua, who will be leading us in traditional Hawaiian ceremony, alongside Confederated Salish Kootenai tribal members.
This event will focus more on the experiential aspect of paddling, rather than racing. We see this an opportunity to be build bridges with other cancer survivors from our own Salish Kootenai reservation and other paddlers from around the Pacific Northwest, Canada and Maui. The Silver Lining Paddle Palooza is really about honoring Mother Earth, our ancestors, the power of ceremony and the healing power of water.
Recently, Silver Lining Montana has added outrigger canoes to their fleet. Why, one might ask? Because cancer affects everyone from all walks of life and we see the canoe as an opportunity to bring us all together.
The MISSION of the Silver Lining Foundation is to help Western Montana women diagnosed with breast cancer achieve and maintain wellness of mind, body and spirit through emotional support, education, and physical activity. We fully embrace and practice what we preach……that EXERCISE IS MEDICINE. Our true joy is paddling dragon boats and outrigger canoes, both of which have a physiological and psychological relevance to survivorship. When all are paddling in sync together on the water, there is an unspoken understanding of the true healing power of water and the power of community, working together toward a common goal.
