Despite covid, we have continued to train safely in our own gym, which is housed in the Elks downtown. We are grateful to both our members and our community for our being able to keep paddling forward, despite these difficult past couple of years. We train year round with Peak trainers, Mike Rankin and Jennifer Fivecoat. And we hit the water 2-3x/week during the spring/summer months. Many of you may see us on Salmon and/or Flathead Lake.
This next summer of 2022, we plan on being on the water by mid-May in both our dragon boats as well as our OC6’s (outrigger canoes). As far as events, we will be attending a training camp in Calgary in May (outrigger and dragon boat), and paddling in our 3rd Annual Paddle Palooza in July (a 30-mile voyage) where we will be joined by paddlers from Canada, Maui and the Pacific Northwest. We will also be competing in August in Calgary at a dragon boat festival and hopefully again in Bigfork in September at the Montana Dragon Boat Festival.
Your generous donations help us keep moving forward. We know that regular exercise can reduce the rate of recurrence by 40-50% and by continuing to create a community amongst breast cancer survivors, we can continue to help each other. We are stronger together and we are thankful for all your support.
Traditional cancer treatment often leaves survivors physically, mentally, and emotionally depleted. Dragon boat racing complements traditional cancer treatment by helping the participants rebuild wellness.

The Silver Lining Sisterhood is entering into it’s fourth year. We are members of the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission as well as the Pacific Dragon Boat Federation. With the generosity of our community, we have been able to purchase our own two boats and we currently train on Salmon Lake. We are a sisterhood that appreciates the value of working together toward a common goal and studies have shown that regular exercise can reduce the rate of recurrence by 40%. As our numbers increase, so does our need to move forward with our mission. Your donation goes towards insurance, paddling clinics, coaching, Loft rental, regatta registration fees, offseason training programs, educational materials, paddles, lifejackets, etc.. We appreciate any support that aids in our mission of empowering breast cancer survivors….in mind, body and spirit.
